New model boat club forming in Birmingham Alabama.
Recently on RCGroups.com scale boat forum a member posted a thread looking for a club near Birmingham. The closest club to him is the Montgomery Model Boat Club about 90 mile away. A second forum member from that area joined in and they decided to form a new club in Birmingham. With the guidance and advice of other forum members they have taken the first steps in getting up and running. If you live in the Birmingham area and are interested in model boating track them down. Bob Potrykus
WSBA member Bob Potrykus passed away due to complications of his battle with bone cancer at the age of 78. He joined the WSBA in 1992. Bob was a true craftsman and he machined many of his own parts, and his models were super detailed. He favored his boats in natural wood. Bob was very outgoing and he always took time to talk with spectators at events.

Passing of Dwight Hartman, model boat builder and owner of Hartman Fiberglass.
On rcgroups.com scale boat forum under the thread "Where is Hartman Fiberglass Now?" it was announced that Dwight Hartman passed away today Monday November 26th at 1:30 pm of complications from a stroke. He had been making fiberglass model boat hulls and kits since 1962.
